yayy geoffs!!! good for you! i'd suggest getting a long lens eventually...you're a good birder...i think you'd make a GREAT bird photographer...

Norm: you're making me cry :-) I want to bring a long lens with me but it's too much to lug along and with my luck, customs would confiscate it!

Vito: Thanks for the encouragement. Whether or not I can make a good bird photographer is yet to be seen. Good bird photographers need patience and I'm sometimes lacking in that area...

The 50-500 will give you everything you want

well....patience is the biggest thing i'm missing...that and the thousands of dollars i'd need for the SLR and lenses :-\

i'll stick to still life and landscapes those i can have COMPLETE control over...but patience is needed in landscapes too....waiting for the perfect light...

That sequence where the heron is swallowing that seriously large frog is awesome.

No way that bird gets that frog down its throat! But it did.

Also really like the blue heron shots and the closeup of the osprey in flight.

Great stuff. Looks like you had a great time chasing some really interesting birds!
