Trying to get as many "fall" photos as possible before the snow comes.

Pecking bugs on the fly

Contemplating the next move

Showing wing tricks

Blending in to the background

nice shots norm

good thinking about the fall...shoot as much as possible...while you can

i love the first one...great action, nice and sharp...good exposure...

you're taking the kinder side of posting images...lol, compressing them a lot so it doesn't take long to load...but, unfortunately, it takes away detail...

good job with these norm! keep shooting!

Action shots, yes! After seeing so many avian pictures over the last 4 months where they are so static in presentation, I'm starting to really relish when people capture birds exhibiting motion. These are great, Norm! The first one is luscious.

Vito, perhaps Norm is overcompressing the images. Even so, the amount of detail that is present, given that, is just something else.

We've missed you Norm...

Hmm, actually that was an error on my part. I posted from a different location and neglected to check the compression prior to saving. Oh well, they load faster for the modem guys like me.

Thanks for pointing that out Vito.

I like the shots with wing movement. Looking forward to seeing more of your shots.

Neat bit of trivia, thanks. I love cheese so I'm sure I'd eat those chickadees before I could photograph them.

bobby, the action shots are always a priority with me so I'll do my best to get more. I'm looking forward toreceiving and usingthe 200 2.8 primewith 1.4 teleconverter and perhaps the 2x, depending on what the results look like. One of the major pitfalls of the 50-500 is it's inability to fast focus in low light, and speed is a necessity in order to capture action as you well know. I think the 200 + teleconverter combo will give me what I want. Of course I'll lose a bit of distance but maybe with practice I'll just be able to sneak closer.

I'll be following your experiments with the 200 lens and TCs real closely, Norm. As I don't have the longer lens yet, your results may influence what I ultimately get.

Normcar, if you want to use 2x with 200 f2.8 then why not look at 400 f5.6 lens. It is one of the best for flight shots. I don't think 200 f2.8 with 2x will come close to 400 f5.6 prime.

What I wantis 500 f4. Works nice with 2x. I just wish I can carry it along with everything else needed for it.
