I was trying to get a picture ofthis green heron when it was fishing in the pond. But everytime I tried to catch the strike, all I got was similar to this.



I finally gave up. I guess my reaction time + shutter lag = picture of heron looking like it just made a crash landing! :lol:

It's not an easy thing to do, so I'd say you did a fairly good job. What I've found in this situation is to have fun with a 3 shot series showing the before, during, & after.

I know with my 10D, which can shoot 3 shots in a second, I still have shots like this one.

Hey, good try. I have that problem, too, as I try to catch great blue herons spearing fish, and I've often thought of the three picture series. At least with digital, it is not like you are wasting film (as if there were any such thing as wasting when you are trying for a good shot!). Same thing with capturing the first moments when a bird takes flight...a three image series would be awesome. Thanks for the tip, EricS.
