Took these yesterday. I know which are the ducks, but the other 2 I'm not sure of. Anyone have any idea what these last 2 birds are? Comments welcome. Cheers................thekman.

Not being an expert of any kind, I'd have to say I'm pretty sure those are birds.:-)Actually, I think the pair in the second last shot are loons. I know that "crown" is a strong identifier, but, of course, I forget for what.

Hey there Thekman

The bottom one is a Pied-billed Grebe in winter plummage and the others are a Male (white patch on head) and female ( Brown head) Hooded Merganser.

Nice find.

Nice catches kman, I love those mergansers and don't get a chance to see them very often. Looks like you've got your own private zoo over there.

Ahhh, mergansers. Thanks for the info everyone. Only birds I know are ducks, seagulls, and bald eagles. Hope to photo some of those (eagles), in the new year. They show up in a place about 50 miles from here every winter to nest. All kinds of them perched in trees. They have an eagle count for a week or 2, and the numbers are plentiful. Will have to try to get somephotos when they start showing up. Thanks again for the info..........thekman.
