Beautiful shot, zoomn - so pretty when cropped closer like this. Now, as to the reason this is for me: is this a 100% crop? ...with no post-processing? What FL? What distance? etc...

Hi Geoffs,

He was about 30 yards away at 500mm, effective 750.

Iso 200

f9

shutter speed 350

The new tripod and head make a big difference. This was my first outing with them. No way I could have gotten these shots sosharp without a good sturdy tripod.

In photoshop I did black color trueing in levels. Did brightness/contrast justments.

Increased the red saturation a tad. Ran an unsharp mask of 20 40 3 to increase the contrast and true the colors further. Then ran a regular unsharp mask of about 60 .9 3.

The crop was not too much I just took out some of the brush on the left side and around the edges. I probably cropped out about 25% of the original photo.

The colors out of the camera are fairly bland and soft. I prefer to adjust them in photoshop rather than with the in camera settings.

Glad you liked the pic.

OOOHHH...I'd hate to be a mouse seeing those claws coming down on me! What type of tripod did you get? I'm using a 20 year old clunker and I'd love to hear what you got!
