SUN going down fast so used BB on my flash. It helped.



My favourite one, though not that sharp

These photos are a very good demonstration of proper flash technique as far as I can see, and the BB is definitely saving the day, literally. Really fine woodpecker shots. Downy? No, that's not a Downy.

These are fine shots, Bobby, and a really good catch also! To my eye, these appear to be a Nuttall's Woodpecker. I've never seen one in real life because they don't occur where I've ever lived. And the bird is definitely larger than what it appears in these photos, right Bobby? A Downy is only about 7" tall but this guy is more like 13" or twice the size of a Downy...

Good shots. I like the first one. It may not have quite the level of detail
of the others, but there is just something about the warm look of the
setting sun that I find pleasing. Yes, definately not a downy, downy's are
clear breasted.

Forgot to add, this was Nuttall's woodpecker. This guy is always visiting the same trees and making all that noise, so makes it easy to locate him.
