My "ferocious" lab and Japanese chins went berserk when a possum trespassed on our property. Nikon 8800. ISO 50. Very cloudy, overcast day here in North Texas.

Then he climbed a tree and hung on a telephone wire.

Finally a zoomed shot. He wasn't too happy about the situation.

poor thing, I bet it was glad the fence was available. We have a possum in our roof, drives us nuts at night running through the ceiling and my old jack Russell who is blind still thinks he could catch it, something he never did or is likely to, which is a relief.

I've never tasted possum despite the fact that I've lived in the South (USA) all my life. This fellow and a couple of his relatives frequent our neighborhood and scavage in the trash cans. Usually nocturnal. Unfortunately, they don't move fast enough in an urban environment, so we see a lot of them as "road kill" around here.

Thanks, Suze.

Nice crisp shots. Looks a young one. Many years ago, I lived near you in Arlington

Kanji, yes it was a young one. Former neighbor, eh? Actually, I still have a house in So. Cal (glad I kept it).

Here's a night shot, but may not be the same possum.

Interesting thing about the night shot is that I had to hold a flashlight on the critter with one hand and the camera (Nikon 8800) in the other. Without the flashlight illuminating the subject, the autofocus couldn't find it.
