I edited this as normal but for some reason it has ended up looking a little like a painting, not done on purpose but I like the effect anyway.

I like it too. The bright white eye ring really draws the viewers eye to the dramatic pose of the bird. The bird, the background, the rail all add to the shot with the similarities in pastel greens and greys. Can grey be pastel???
Anyway I really like this shot. I'd hang it on my wall.

I like the comp and the bird itself, but something about the bird does notseem right to me, I just can't put my finger on what it is.

This one would be a tough crop decision for me because I don't really like the bottom right section but couldn't crop it out or too much of the bottom would go. I guess I could clone a bit but then that might be too much processing (difficult line to draw by many). I'm not a fan of green tones but I do like this shot. I think the bird's head thrown up and it's unique eyeball are drawing factors. It would be interesting to see the original of this one (for me, primarily to see the bird's true colors).

Norm this was just a shot of a silver eye (see my avatar) only this one was slightly paler, they are a green/white/gold color. I cant seem to find the original shot but the bird was this pale color.

found the original, as you can see the color is pale, photo was very noisy and dark.

Thanks, you did a very good job of processing here. I don't think that this is the original photo, though, as the head seems tilted up more in the processed one. It's probably one from the same series of shots, though, and close enough for what I wanted to see.

Great job
