I had a lot of images so I just put them on the web:

They seem darker once they got on the web...I'm not sure why, but I was in the right place at the right time several times today.

Here is my favorite from the day:

I apologize for the few blurry images. I only included them because of what was going on. One was due to my error, and the other was so far away. Enjoy!

nice action shot! totally stopped the bird in motion. i tried taking pics of hawks a few months ago. all i got were blurred images due to their speed, lol

only comment is that i wish the shot were closer. i really wanted to see the egale in detail.

goood job nonetheless

Hi Suzan

Where I shoot there are very few eagles. However, whenever I'm not ready to shoot, one of them appears...

Flys by, waves his wings at me and my dog and while I franticaly change batteries will disappear....

What I found amazing by photographing Ospreys is that they actually will smash themselves into the water. The Osprey actually will often submerge.

I love the look on this guy you put up...!!!

Great shots, are these in some kind of sanctuary or just in the wild???

No sanctuary. The VERY close head shots were taken when the lady from the National Eagle Center did a presentation, but the flight shots were all in the wild. They congregate along the Mississippi River marshy areas and along the main channel this time of year as they migrate north again. Every day and time of day yields different results, because they are constantly on the go. We have an area, though, where they have typically hung out for a period of weeks, but this year they are not using that spot. I found a spot about two miles from there where there was a large group, but not the hundreds that we sometimes see. Their schedule is very different this year.

There are a series of locks and dams along the Mississippi, and we have many in our area. They love these areas because the water is open in spite of ice in other places. The eagle catching a fish was captured as I drove along a road in a park in Minnesota. I saw him bank severely, I pulled over quickly and jumped out to catch the images.
