These little guys-I think they're mergansers (? I'm not a bird expert) - swam up to the edge of the seawall, and I guess they were having supper. Shot them with highest iso (400) with my FZ20. Hence some noise is apparent. I removed a bit of it. They're cute little guys. Cheers.......thekman.

Thanks Dave. I have to go get a birder book. I'm always guessing. The only ones I really know are gulls, crows, and eagles. Thanks.....thekman.

Great series of shots.
Actually, they are Barrow's Goldeneye. The Commons have a rounded cheek patch and the Barrows have a cresent shaped patch under the eye.

Nice shooting,
smac

you nailed me on this one. What makes this worse it that I looked it up with the thought in mind that they were Barrow's and then just forgot all about it when I saw the picture of the Common....

Here's an over compressed female Hooded Merganser...

Nice ones Kman, these are very pretty waterfowl and I can never get close enough to them for a good shot.

Thanks Normcar. They are cute little guys. Lately, they've been swimming in a pack right up to the shore, splash around a little, have something to eat, and swim back out again. Always in gaggles of around 20 to 30 birds. thekman.
