While visiting the seaside, I snapped a few of this little fellow when he did not fly off as I cameclose. We were saddened to see that his reluctance to fly off may have been due to the fact that he had only one foot, poor thing. Only aftertransferring the picture to my PC later on did I notice what appears to be fishing line wrapped around his other leg. Quite possibly that plays a part in how he lost his foot. Still, he seemed pretty healthy and well fed despite the injury - we managed to find some bread for him just to save him a trip out in search of some dinner.

Hi Suze

Sad, but good shots. Might make a good poster to put on beaches.

Fishermen have no problem hauling aways their gear, their fish, whatever, but when it comes to a half ounce of line, they leave it on the beach, and your photo shows the results...

I have quite a few images of birds with line and hooks wrapped around them..
