It was a beautiful day yesterday (Saturday) and I drove down South of Thomasville, Ga. (about 85 miles) to a place called Birdsong Nature Center on a plantation. I saw some Herons on their nests but they were so far out into the swampy area that I didn't have a chance of getting a good one. But I did get a few of some other guys. Hope you like them and all comments, advice etc welcome.

All shots with Drebel, 135-400, 1.4x tc

Red bellied Woodpecker - This one is a crop to get rid of the feeding station

Cropped, resized, Lev, USM, NR - ISO 400, 1/500, F5.6, 560mm

Eastern Towhee (I think) I didn't like the background on this one but it was the only time I saw the guy.

Houston, nice shots. I wouldn't be too picky on the background of the towhee, I've not yet got a shot of one. I like it. I also really like the detail in the eye of the woodpecker.

Great shooting Houston. I agree with mullen that you did a wonderful job on that woodpecker, especially the eye. I also like the perspective that you shot the cardinal in, down to earth so to speak. Glad you had some good weather, now it's time for me to get some up here.
