Of course some Cardinals winter in New York. I shot this through a lot of brush, which obscures the image. I like it anyway.

This is the first returning Great Blue Heron I've seen.

Canada Geese, not strictly returning...

Truly a sign of Spring, the first Turkey Vulture...

He kept following me. Is this a bad sign?

Really nice in flight photos Dave. I'm suprised that you said this is your
first turkey vulture of the year. A lot of these guys are resident here all year round.

Hi Woodmeister

I've been told that some overwinter - I've never seen one in Winter up here...

And never in New York City, which considering all the wildlife that actually lives along the shore, I find surprising, but then again, they would have to compete with the Gulls...

BTW, The Turkey Vulture is actually the sweetiest wild animal, barring none. They are adorable. Of course this assumes that you don't actually have to look at them up close...
:-)

Those geese are great, Dave, just wonderful. The rest are good but the geese are just plain great and the background is perfect IMO.
