I was going through some shots in preparation for a presentation, and I found this shot. I liked it, a lot actually. Normally I skip shots with this many things infront of the bird... but I thought it worked well in this shot.

Camera: 10D 600mm f4IS + 1.4TC 1/1500 f5.6 ISO400 tripod
PhotoShop: RAW convert, noise reduction, crop, reduce, sharpen.

Nice shot! I like how the colors of everything in front of and around the bird cause it to blend in with it's surroundings while preserving the bird's detail. Nicely done =)

I like this one a lot also Eric. It's very well done especially with the colors of the bird, the fuzzy things on the stems and the surroundings all go together nicely. It would be a keeper for me for sure. BTW you asked me to post some of the flying shots from last week-end. I posted some of the Red Shouldered Hawk and the Red Tailed Hawk but I didn't get one of the Peregrine flying. After it was all over I realized that I was up too close. I should have been back behind the crowd. It would have been a lot easier to track those guys from farther away. But I'll get there..........and thanks again for your help.

Regards

This definitely has an artistic flare to it.

Houston,
I think I saw the red shouldered but not the red tailed. (edit: Ah, yes. Thanks for the tip, I hadn't seen that post, I had only seen a shot of one raptor seated.) I'll have to go back and look. Shows like that are fun, aren't they? Sorry you didn't get the Peregrine, they are great birds... I've never seen one up close, but at least I've seen one.

Glad you all like the shot. It's interesting 'cause I remember the this day for two other birds (a grasshopper sparrow and a vesper sparrow, both fairly rare where I am) but when I saw this one I like it too.
