The Herring Gull reaches full size in less than a year, but doesn't mature till the age of four. There are the feathers of a two year old...

The best times to take pictures of these guys is in a high wind. They hang in the air...

Of course, with MY equipment, it's like shooting holding a fan, and I wind up shooting the gulls that were behind me...:-)

Very nice shots here Dave. And your info about the wind will come in handy if I can find some gulls. There were about 50 of the white sea gulls at a local lake and I believe they disappeared or moved on the day I got my new 100-400 lens and now I can't find any slower flying birds to practice on.
