I captured these photos today using the Canon G6 on full zoom, and set to manual focus. This is a banded flutterer dragonfly. The photos look quite ok at 800x600 video resolution, and at 1024x768 video resolution.

I also took photos of a different banded flutterer on another day...featured at this link...

Great work kenny on catching these guys in flight!!!! The way they buzz
around, catching them in flight is no easy task!!!!

Thanks woodmeister! It really is fiddly to get a good focus onto these guys. They just like to change directions and dart around so much.

Yesterday, I put the camera onto a higher resolution setting and managed to capture some shots of another dragonfly...a green coloured one.

The green one is pretty enormous in actual size....and interestingly, I've never ever seen these big green ones ever land.

Very impresive in being able to capture these guys in flight like this. I especially like numbers 2 and 4. They are hard enough to photo when just standing still.
