This is the most difficult bird for me to photograph. In the Winter, they're a drab browinsh gray, but for summer they put on the fancy duds and turn black and white. This guy is being lit by the horizontal light of dawn.

These are such strange birds, and a treat to take photographs of. They're about the same physical size (if not weight) as wild Turkeys, and when seen from a distance, walk the same way. Of course they're always in some kind of water.
