This bird looks a little like a small kingfisher but I cant find him in any book of mine. I did not notice that he had impaled that poor lizard until i got home and downloaded the photos. They are all taken with Canon rebel 100-300 usm lens F8 ISO 400.

He had just caught it

Heres where he has impaled the lizard, he had been bashing it on the tree

A shot taken face on, he looks like an evil little devil don't you think?

It's a Brooklyn Robin gone bad:blah:

Ok, ok, I don't have a clue, but it looks like a salamander, not a lizard - so there!

Nice pictures. Very nice pictures, but he doesn't look mean to me...

actually it's a Skink as they are called here in Oz. Its real name is Cyclodomorphus melanops elongatus

Julie, I can tell how much you've improved since months ago when I last was active on the forum. You just keep getting better and better at this stuff. And you're getting better at Australian bird (and skink) id also!

#1 and #4 are my favs here...

Great shots alady! May I ask, which lens are you using on your camera? Your pictures of the wildlife of Oz are a treat to view..Cheers....thekman.

I don't usually sit and inspect a photograph for too long but these ones really caught my attention. You have recorded an extremely interesting moment in the life of some poor unfortunate creature and you have done it very effectively IMO. The bird reminds me of the Bush Tucker Man; looks like him without the hat.
