great shots especially the second one.

Yeah, just been really busy lately and not too many chances for photography. However next weekend hubby and I are traveling to Manjimup (about 3 and half hour drive west of us) for the big motor-cross race that is held there every year, guys come over from USA, new Zealand and around Australia for this event. It will be the first time I have a go at motor-cross photography. I dont know if thats what it's called else where in the world.

Motor-cross is what it is here - Sounds like a GREAT chance for some good pics !! Maybe have a browse to the sports and action forums to see what and how to take shots [angles etc.] or any other motor-cross sites. We went to an airshow a few weeks ago [my first] and it was a real treat, took some great shots, however, I never knew we were going there before we left home, and it would have been better if I was prepared as to how to take plane shots. Anyway - have FUN

Nice job, Jake, great to see that you are challenging the limits. Those wings are going awfully fast. I like the dragonfly best, looks like he's trying to hug the stick.

Good shot! At what speed would you need to take the photo at to get the wings still!

Not really sure Floomby, that's why Iused Iso3200 in the top pic, to try and get the shutter speedup, but the light obviously wasn't enough to get a shutter speed high enough. Lowering the aperture value might have increased it enough, but I have had problems with a wide aperture and not enough DOF, so therefore the F8.0

I suppose one could find out at what speed theinsects wingsbuzz at, and thenset according to that??

Thanks for looking - Hey, I see you're form Durbs !! We're heading down there this weekend, gonna celebrate somebody's BIG 5 birthday [no names mentioned]
