Eric, [if you're looking in]

I was quite challenged by your replies to twistedpuppy as to what makes a good bird photo, and it has raised my sights to endeavouring to catch, not "just a bird", but something "different" or "particular" about the shot. Anyway, this pic was taken this morning, and I think it has aparticular feelabout it which i like - something to do with the light, and the way he is looking into the light- [any comments perhaps, favourable or not ??]

Wow Jake, if this is not a good photo there never will be one. I really like the light and the shadow in this one and I don't think it could be any better. That's imo and I'm sure it will be in lots of others also. Thanks for attachingthe sample of the shadow recovery thing from Fred Miranda. I think it is just what I'm looking for. Sorry you didn't have a better one to work with in that group of photos. I will get it, just haven't done so yet.

Hi Zolbol, we do get quite a few of the African "Who Pooh ?" birds here, this particular bird has sort of made residence in our yard. His left eye is damaged, as well as his right wing, probably by a cat, although he still seems to be self sufficient and flys quite well.

Hey, what happened to your "spot teh leopard" post, we never saw a pic at all ???

Beautiful shot, beautiful bird. I love checking out your postings! Your pictures are always incredible. Things that I would never see otherwise. Sure I could pick up a book and look at pictures of around the world but it's not the same.

Fascinating and beautiful!!
