These images were taken at dawn, full in the face of the sun.

The bridge in the back-ground is the Marine Park Bridge to the Rockaways, via Flatbush Avenue.

Finally, he made a complete loop around me, and with the sun at my back, looks a bit different...

nice shots. i like the 1st the best. a bit of plus EC would have helped the 1st & 2nd for shaddow detail.

Sometimes detail suppressing shadows are artistically effective and add a dimension to the shot that otherwise would not have existed. To me, this is one of those cases. I think that the first shot is extremely effective with the bridge softly filling the background and the shadows creating a near sihouette that adds to the overall shot. Seeing every feather in this one just wouldn't be as pleasing to me personally.

Yes, Norm, i agree with you. i may have read more into what Dave said. silhouette shots are very nice and the bridge background in the first shot is what i really liked about it. if this is what Dave had in mind as artistic then, IMO, he pulled it off perfectly.
