Spotted this guy(?) in a tree at a local park. Only had a chance to take a quick shot before s/he left. Clipped the tail...sigh.

The eyes capture you're attention so much you hardly notice the clipped tail. Nice shot.

I really like this shot. It's a REALLY good shot. Yes, it's a great shot, but I agree with you, I would be looking for a concrete block to whack myself with. :lol:

But it's still a GREAT SHOT. I wish I took this shot.

PS. How big was this bird, and did you shoot it in Oregon?

It was a bit smaller than the crows it was harrassing. And yes, it was in Salem, Oregon

I used my Canon 20D, Canon EF 70-200mm L IS USM and a Canon EF 1.4x extender.

Great shot, lovely crop; my guess would be a Sharp-Shinned Hawk.

This is most probably a Sharp Shined hawk, immature. It might also be a Merlin, but the eye color is wrong.

A real ornithologist could tell at a glance
