Some photos I took yesterday of some dragonflies and some butterflies.
All are 50% crops of the original except for the two black butterflies,
which were about 75%. (Cropped tight since the background wasn't all
that interesting.)

All shots 20D, 100-400L, ISO 400

360 mm, f/7.1, 1/400sec

400 mm, f/7.1, 1/500sec

365 mm, f/6.3, 1/640sec

365 mm, f/8, 1/1000sec

400 mm, f/6.3, 1/250sec

360 mm, f/7.1, 1/500sec

Fantastic!!!!!!

I love these, all of them.

The dragonsflies are my favorite. The wings in the first one are transparent showing the background through them for a really neat effect. Then the next one with just a slight angle change is reflecting the light for a different very neat effect.

The moth photo is great with the contrast of the yellow flower with the colors of moth, very nice job on the exposure on that one.

The butterflies color in the first one is awesome. And it is really set off by the brown surrounding making the color look even more fantastic.

Greatstuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These age just great close up photos. What really impresses me is that they were taken without a dedicated macro lens. I have been thinking of getting a macro but I'm now inspired to experiment more with the lens I have.
