Eurasian coot



Great cormorant





Musk duck (these guys blow themselves up to almost deformed looking when trying to attract the females)





Purple swamp hen

I agree. Some of these are birds I've never seen.

I've tried that above approach on woman with little success. They've never actually called the cops, but I wonder how these guys can survive if their luck is as good as mine.

Nice job Julie. As I said earlier you sure are lucky to have such a great assortment ot birds to photograph. The Swamp hen is unusual looking to me. Does it fly or is it just a ground bird.

thanks houston, it's a ground bird, looks very similar to a new zealand bird with a different name.
