Got these photos the other day. Since I haven't posted a chippy in a while, I decided it was
about time.

All shots 20D, 100-400L, ISO 400

365mm, 1/250 sec, f/8

370mm, 1/80 sec/ f/5.6
(was suprised that this guy stayed still long enough)

You can post them all day as far as I'm concerned. They're my favorite animal. I had one as a pet as a kid. It was like owning a dog. Much cleverer than their relatives the squirrils...

You even kitty box train them, ONCE and that's it.

That first chipper is one of the best shots I've seen in a very long time, if ever. Your straight on, almost foreshortened, animated perspective is wonderful. The crop choice couldn't be better imo. I would have upped the contrast a touch, but that's purely monitor stuff. Color and exposure is perfect. It is purely great, nice job.

Thank you everyone for your comments and taking the time to view the pics.

Dave - chippies are just so damned cute, you got to love 'em. (as long as they aren't
digging up the garden)

Norm - Your making me blush!! As far as the contrast, it's probably because I try to
tweak gamma on web postings to try to get a decent look on any monitor/browser,
compensated or uncompensated. So it always ends up being some sort of comprimise.

woodmeister, 2 awesome shots!!! i love little chippy on the blueberry bush. chipmunks are one of my favorite little critters. oh, alady, come get all the gray squirrels you want and take them home with ya. i'm not a fan of them, though they allow some really nice shots like the one above. around here they're a real nuisance but, comical critters.

Thanks dennis!! I know what you mean about the squirrels being a nusaince. At home,
they are always digging up my yard and garden. And since I live in a stand of oak trees,
any attempt at control is totally useless.

Awsome photos. I especially like the Chipmunk shots. I had two as pets while stationed in Germany. They sold them in pet stores. As a boy I sat for hours watching them. We don't have them in my part of NC. I miss them. Thanks for sharing Woodmeister. Woody

Chipmunks are so cute. my brother and i caught a wild one and kept it as a pet for a week or two until he got out of his cage. he lived in the basement in the ceiling joists. every supper time we would hear him raiding the trash barrel in a corner on the cellar steps. this went on for a while until Taffy, our 14 lb cat, got to him and left him as present in front of the washing machine. that was the first and last little chipper we had for a pet.
