These guys couldn't care less about warnings from some stupid Willet. They know me.

Some of the smaller shore birds love to be hanging out with guys with long useable beaks - keeps the Gulls at a respectable distance.

And when I first read that these were "Short Billed" I wondered what the "Long Billed" looked like - actually they look almost the same...

Sorry, most regulars know what I shoot.

Nikon D2x and Swarovski AT 80, with the 800mm adapter.

The bird stands six feet high and will attack human strangers on sight!

Ok, how about a foot tall? With that long beak, pity the poor marine worms who thought they were safe...

I like the lighting on these, too. Were they taken very late afternoon?

Morning - early morning, maybe 45 minutes after dawn.

I always start my shooting before dawn. I sort of stand there like an idiot, peering into the gloom, looking for birds. Eventually the sun comes up and I start shooting...
