Just picked up the lens tonight and slapped on the 1.4 extender. Unfortunately it was overcast but here are a couple of the better shots.

Lovely shots, Jim, congrats on the purchase of what I consider to be one of the most wonderful lenses around. The more you use it the more you'll love it, because it will be able to do what you ask it to

Thanks Norm for the compliments and the lens advice you gave me. I've added an insect shot and an immature cedar waxwing from tonight.

Nice shots again, Jim, but your focus was on the twig in this shot and not the bird. I suspect that it relates to the focus settings that you may have on your camera. That lens you have is a dynamic focus machine and it won't betray you, but you need to make sure that your camera is focusing on the exact thing that you wish to accentuate, otherwise you won't be happy, and that is primarily because that lens is such a dynamic instrument and it does what you tell it to do .

It always takes a bit of time getting used to a new lens, and with this one the time will be well spent because once you master this lens you will have no problem with any other professional lens that you purchase.
