The aviation analog to synchronized swimming. Perhaps this will one day be an Olympic event.

Two sanderlings caught doing their flying in formation exercises...

This - THIS, is a truly delightful picture. And trust me, I KNOW how difficult it is to catch these little guys clearly.

Realy - congradulations on this shot. I love it!

Well, thanks Dave! Your kind comments are much appreciated.

I'm not the best at flight shots (Norm is pretty much the expert at it) but sometimes I get lucky...

It's super, even the touch of reflection, their flying full speed so close to the sea - perfect!

They're very fast. It's not as bad as shooting swallows, at least they don't dodge around for bugs - but it ain't easy!

Dave has it exactly right. Swallows are the "holy grail". My attempts at getting good in-flight swallow shots are not very good. It's sort of the never-ending quest...

Heck, even my bb gun method doesn't work on Swallows. I think Norm, and one other person here, posted some good pics of them in the air.

And they, if photographed would be facinating. I have one blurry shot of a Barn swallow with his mouth wide open, scouping bugs - I could have made a fortune with that shot, except for the fact that I had to hire NASA to do the interpolation....
