I'm glad to see these birds making a comeback.I have seen more this summer than usual. (These pictures were taken this summer)They were hunted for their feathers to use in ladies hats and fansin the late 1800s. I think that they are related to the ibises.... bentleysmom

Thanks Ladyhawk.I came upon several of these birds in a large tree. Everytime I have photographed any before...I seemed to have blown the white out. This time I set my exposure on my fz5 at -2/3 and zoomed 12x. I think that they came out fairly well. Here's one of a spoonbill landing. He's trying to get his balance on the top of this tree. They are interesting looking birds with those bills.Thanks again for your time. bentleysmom
