Hi All

This is some sort of bustard. When it is displaying, its chest blows up as big as its body.

Very funky. Great plumage, I've never seen anything like that before.

You sure have some funny birds in South Africa! But they are a joy for me to look at. I'm with Eric - post some more...

Apparently Bustards are an Old World bird, with about twnety different species, all declining in numbers. It's one of the largest flying birds in terms of weight, the Kori Bustardd being as much as forty pounds!

I've never seen one, and while I "knew" the name, the only thing I know about thse birds is what I just looked up. Was this a Dirty Bustard? :G
