Second shot is one of the best I've seen of this bird in a long while. Great shooting, Houston, and especially with this elusive critter. Glad you posted the fish acrobatics, too, even though slightly blurred, they are a great record of a neat event.

Thanks for looking in Eric. As for hearing their call, Oh how I wish I could. I've never mentioned this on the forum before but I've never heard a bird before even with my aids. Do love to watch them though.

Well, sorry to hear about that. Hearing loss can be a real problem and probably missing bird calls ranks up with the worst...

But as for the King Fisher, it doesn't "Call" so much as gives off what I anthropomorphise into an "angry Chatter," with overtones of sarcasm, as if they as saying, "Can't photograph me buddy."

Have you tried some of those new computerised hearing aids? They worked great for a friend I know.

I'm sorry to hear about your hearing problems. That is something that I hope I never have (although it's clear my dad is loosing his hearing. Lets hope I don't!)

I had a picture published in the magazine of the American Birding Aasociation. Because of that they sent me an issue of the magazine. They have a letters section, and in that issue they talked about an article in a previous issue about hearing aids. Someone wrote in to mention an aid that they use that works great.

I'll see if I can find that magazine and send you a message which hearing aid it was and what issue had that article.

I agree with DBB, it is much more like a Chatter than a song. But I like the sound all the same.

Dave and Eric - I already have the new computerized Auticon's with a remote control and these are by far the best I've ever had but you really have to have something before you can improve it. About all I have is some very low frequency sound like the drum beat and the rumble of thunder but the high frequency just ain't there. And with my aids I can turn the volumn up until my ears hurt but the music just wont be there. I've lived with it for a long time now and most of the timeI can say I've come to terms with it. And watching the birds and trying to get a decent photograph of them is good therapy.

No problem, I just thought I'd help if I could, it's in my nature to do that.
You produce great images, so keep them coming!
