He raised his crest and tail long enough for one shot and then dashed away.

Nice shot. My wife and I spent a week in New Mexico a couple years ago. We wanted to see one of these in the wild and finally did just outside of Rock Hound State Park. It was interesting to see his motion as he trotted off too.
