nice shot, we call those German shepherds in Australia. I used to own one, beautiful animals:-)

We have German Shepherds here as well. I think essentially they are the same as Alsations. Not sure if maybe German Shepherds are long haired, and Alsations are short, but I could be wrong.

No they are the same dog, my grandmother told me that in the UK they changed the dogs name because of the feelings about germany after the second world war:-)

Yes that is exactly true about the term Alsatians for the German Shepherd Breed, and why the name was changed. You even saw it changed in fiction from that period. I have had gsd's for 30 yrs and was so thrilled to see this photo when I was researching photography of dogs. Thank you!

Actually DURING the first World War...

Poor dogs...The British are so backwards...
