I don't think I've ever seen any kind of duck perched in a tree before, but this guy was. Maybe this is why they're called Wood Ducks.....cheers........thekman.

i agree... all nice work, but #1 is excellent. of course, wood ducks are among the prettiest birds i can think of...

what camera and lens were you using?

Thanks Squirl. Ya, the wood ducks are unbelievable for colouring. I used the pentax istDS with the 50-200mmDA lens, and cropped a little on all 3...thekman.

Might be the nicest image of a Wood Duck I've ever seen. Their called "Perching Ducks," and have little claws for grasping wood. They nest in holes in tree's...

I believe however that your "Wren," is a Fox Sparrow...:G

Thanks DBB. I thought it might be a sparrow too. Was having trouble with the id. in my bird book. He or she was quite cooperative for posing.....thekman.
