Nice shot! I don't think we have this bird in the states.. looks like a cross between a Sparrow and Warbler. The Yellowhammer (in the US) is AKA the Yellow Shafted Flicker which is a form of woodpecker.

Hi KEM the Yellowhammer is a native British bird it is one of Britains most colourful birds in breeding plumage as this one is. It is a member of the Bunting family and does indeed resemble a cross between a Sparrow and a Warbler. It also has a lovely song at this time of year.
