A mad goose? and a couple of mallards in flight. The mallards were quite a ways out over the pond. 20D 500mm 1.4X TC handheld.

nice shots, Dennis... do you use a 500mm prime? do you have to focus manually when you're using the TC?

Squirl, thanx! I use the canon 500mm f/4 L IS prime. It auto-focuses with the 1.4X TC as I use a 20D and that will auto-focus at f/5.6 which is what the TC brings it to. I find with the TC it seems a tad slow to focus. But, that could be because of the rapid movement of the subjects and I can't always keep up and the the focus hunts on a blank sky. So, I think it is the operator and not the machine.
