Got out today and it was cloudy and dull most of the day. I was slow to react to anything and missed more shots than I got. Most of the following were at long distances for the size of the bird. 20D 500mm & 1.4x TC hand held.

1. A pair of red-tailed hawks way, way out so I tried to get both in the frame as they were crossing and got this.

2. Brown-headed Cowbird. I think this is my first. I think the shutter speed was 1/320 so it isn't very sharp

3. While checking a hawk nesting site I found this house finch way up in a tree.

4. A downy woodpecker getting back to business after being terrorized by some other little birdie. Shot out the window of my truck.

5. Same downy taken prior to the last pic. He is looking at or for the terrorist birdie.

Well, you nailed the Downy:!::!::!:

I've been having rotten weather, uncooperative mercenary models, and the dog is on strike for higher pay. So don't expect any sympathy from me....
