These shots were taken respectively from ten miles and five miles away. Hmm?

Well, would you believe 50 feet and 25 feet respectively?

They were shot at 160, monopode and all but two, were shot in the "shade" of the maestro being located inside a bush.

mi, mi, mi mi.

Hmm? The crowd hasn't arrived yet.

Ok, let's start the show!

Let's let it all hang out!

You on the left - Pay attention!

Whoa, is he singing to me? I'm not a Song Sparrow

Better wake up and pay attention.

I am so rediculously proud of these shots, you have no idea.

The light was terrible, I was too close, I shot too slow, my 1100mm is kinda twitchy at this distance...()

And worst of all, the real beauty of THIS bird is their song. And I can't post a recording...

And with very good reason, Dave - That no.5 shot is really something !! Actually it could be Barbara Streisand in semi-disguise [same beak :-)]

I also love the splayed legs on the shots, and the clarity and sharpness, given the said conditions make them an achievement of "note"

Well, you don't have to post a recording for my sake - I've got a permanent one playing back in my head continually (from the pair that is resident at the back of my home). It's a really pleasant song so I don't mind...

I think you did really well with this series, Dave. You really do some wonderful things with that scope attached to your camera. Being away from the action here and coming back to see these shots reminds me of what I've been missing!

Great series Dave. These little guys really do sing up a storm. They seem to like posing for the camera too. True entertainers I guess........thekman.

 I just tool another series of them in better light. Had to follow him arond his tree - but he wouldn't leave the tree. Probably regarded me as a fan trying for an autograph... ()
