here's a little house wren i shot in my back yard... about the size (and shape!) of an egg with wings and a tail...

this little song sparrow seems to think he can bring the sun back by singing!

this swallow had just landed on his front porch... the light was horrible, dull and gray, so you can't really see the colors on his back...

and this American robin out looking for a snack...

Rocky, the moment these all downloaded I had to laugh a little, mutter man o man he can make any camera sing. As a colleague said, "when its really good its better than being there. "

The song sparrow is very nice. It looks like it's singing.

Canon 30D with a Sigma EX 80-400 @ 400mm, no TC. the wren landed in a dwarf apple tree in my yard, about 25 feet from my back door. the song sparrow was shot at a local park/wildlife sanctuary, he was on a branch about 20 feet from me.

thanks, Tazz... i think i'm starting to get the hang of this 30D! i've messed up a lot of shots (you don't see the 800 or so i've taken in thelast week and discarded! :lol due to not yet being familiar with, or remembering how to use, all the camera's features, but i'm sure having fun with it! i'mdefinitely getting a lot more 'keepers' than i used to, and more shots worthy of printing...
