I was walking through the bush a couple of days ago looking for small birds when I noticed stuff falling from above onto my head. Looking up i saw these black cockatoos tearing the bark from the trees. they do it for fun not food:-)I had the 100-300 lens so pointed straight up to photograph them but no matter what setting I tried I got silhouettes so i tried iso 800 F8 with the flash, they are a bit washed out but at least you can see them.

Not for nothing, but I am a big fan of your photography. But as your photography gets better, your post processing skills seem to get worse...:blah:

The below image are the result of just running these two images through "auto levels" in Photoshop

I think these are Excellent images. But you would never know it from looking at them....

I've observed Julies photographs for over a year now. She's getting really good - But who's to know it if she doesn't process them right? Nor does she need Photoshop. A $50 program will do the simple adjustments her shots require.()

Thanks DBB, yes I do have photoshop but have been not impressed with the auto correct in it so never bothered to look at it. I tried the extra contrast but felt the bird looked way too dark and I wanted the eye to show up. Now I shall put them back through and do an auto correct and have another look.:-)
