I think you'll find they are Slavonian grebes to some of us:blah:

Im Breeding foliage, pardon plumage, the horns or ears, as the case may be, are the orange tufts. In the case of the Horned Grebe, these extend past the eye, in the case of Eared Grebes, they don't. Bingo - these are Horned Grebes.
