I wrote a number of poems about the birds I encounter,
Dave, your poems are great, as well as your shots, I remember and enjoy the ethereal snow-goose poem, and was sort of hoping that you would have included one in the swan shots of a week or so ago.

I love the "saunter" of the 2nd last shot, it's classic [somehow reminds me of Jack Nicholsen ??]
They really have a "Unbirdlike" walk. Walk, stride, run, all done much like a person. Strange bird. It uses that long beak in different ways. Plunging it into the ground to hunt worms, prying open clams, or smashing open muscles.

Since it's food is so different from other shore birds, it's not competititve at all. Always friendly and ready to keep the peace. The smaller shore birds feel safe, when thier walking around with them.

Dave, That was terrific. Multitalented. If you have poems, please post them with your photos. I for one would enjoy the words along with the photos. Beautiful dog too. Woody

I really like my Marsh Hawk poem - and as soon as I shoot another Marsh Hawk, I'll post it...:blah:

But you know, the Angel of Death ain't got nothing on this bird, as it more or less cuts the grass while hunting...

It's a strange thing to see this rather large predator, mow the lawn...
