I consider this photo to be the best out of the 6 pics that I took. Let me know what you think, including whether my bird ID is correct

Regards,

Paul

Not sure about the species of birds in Dutchland, but my guess is a Coot.

Hi Buzzsaw,

I did a quick check in Google and you're right, it's a coot. Thanks for the correction.

Regards,

Paul

I like the picture (of the Coot...:-)) but you should increase the contrast - give it more life! Perhaps mask off the white beak area, and make that a bit darker...

Hi Dave,

I've upped the contrast with a value of 30 in Irfanview. IMO it looks even better now. Thanks for the tip. It's mostly the little things that mean the difference between a good photo and an outstanding photo. I suppose that comes with experience though (I'm approximately 18 and a half years old, as of this writing, so I'm only just starting:roll.

The FZ5 had told me that the beak area was overexposed, but I don't know if I can correct that with the programs that I have (Picasa2, Irfanview and a demo version of Neat Image).

Regards,

Paul

Looks better. I also only a kid. True, my defintion keeps changing as time goes on...

Being 58 myself, note the similarity in the last digit of our ages ()
