Would anyone who knows anything about cows be able to tell me why this lot, inctead of munching away on luscious green grass, are all standing on piles of soil in the middle of the field? Very bizarre.

Taken near my home today, Sutton Lane, Nr Newport, Shropshire

Shaun..... those cowscould just be standing around chewing their cuds. From the looks of their backsides they appear to be getting plenty of that fresh green:-)

Wadge.....that looks like typical behavior for sheep AND goats. They will usually eat off of trees as high as they can reach or stand. Goats are worse about that though.

Ducks climbing trees??? I would think that is typical behavior.....for a tree duck.:blah:

I took a closer look at the pile those cows are standing on. It has grass growing on it.....maybe they chewing on that:?

Both Goldeneyes species nest in trees, Hooded Mergansers, and Common Mergansers nest in trees as do Buffleheads - Although not Mallards :O

The funny thing about it was she appeared to take great pleasure in quacking at the startled ducks that happen to walk under her....
