Took these a while back and forgot about them. This heron was quite accomodating and extremely vocal. All with 20D 500mm & 1.4TC @ iso 200 & tripod.

dennis

1. As I said the bird was vocal

4. This was at the end of a series of shots and the heron was getting tired of me and another person taking pictures and he decided to move behind some reeds. He popped out a couple of times and this was the only shot of the bird fluffed up.

Beautiful shots Dennis. That combo of tc and 500mm works very well. Can I ask, what kind of tripod and ballhead setup do you use? I'm in the market for one, as I have a similar focal range setup, and my current pod and ballhead are inadequate..thanks.......Don.

Don, thanx!! I have the Gitzo 1325 tripod and the wimberley Head 2. Solid as a rock and so easy to use. I finger is all you need to aim it and where it is balanced, it doesn't move from the subject.

dennis

p.s. the setup is good for 26 lbs. My seyup is only approx. 11 lbs.

Very nice shots Dennis, looks like you are getting the hang of that 500. Now, what else have you forgotten about and not showing us??
