saw this one creeping up on me to get a closer look while i was fishing at the cottage.

Hi pacey,

I like your sneaky turtle. :-) Very unusual and cool. I'm not sure but I'm thinking it's a Softshell turtle. Judging from the smoothness of the shell and his little snout nose. Good job getting this shot. Thanks for sharing it.

Note the legs in particular. I'm pretty sure it's a snapper.

WOW, MadMIke, your right! It IS a snapper. I'm glad you provided that link. Pacey, how big was this turtle. Snappers get HUGE.

it was probably about 2 feet long, it wasdefinately was a large snapper. here's another beside my rope for the anchor.

pacey, these are great shots too. I can't believe this big guy was so persistant in getting so close to you. WOW, and even stayed long enough to get these great shots. This one you got on land is pretty cool. It's not often you see these out of water like that.

Every turtle we see in the water around here barely sticks around long enough for us to identify it much less swim in for a closer look & "pose" for a picture. How lucky you are. Neat pictures.
