Default Juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk

I shot it through the window so the quality is not outstanding but I love the photo!

Nice catch and you obviously didn't disturb him in the process!

Actually it was asleep until my hubby tapped on the window and it opened it 's eyes a little. I sneaked out the door to the porch but before I could get off a shot, it flew away. There were 3 young ones and they flew all around here but the last week we haven't seen or heard them at all. Sad...

Judy, they probably fledged somewhere near your house and as they got older and stronger moved on with their parents. That would be normal.

The nest was in the woods next door but the neighbors didn't tell us about it until my husband saw him outside one day when mowing. It was not real high and I could have gotten some good shots. By then they had flown the nest but were really squawing a lot to be fed and one landed on top of my van once. We sure miss them!
