This little ragged looking Blackbird, had just escaped with his life from some disaster. He's not molting and half his tail was ripped off...

So, I find these birds often difficult to approach. Not as bad as many, but difficult. THIS bird clearly felt that he could live forever. He had a total contempt for my presense...

I see a lot of red wings, but never seen one beat up like this. Looks like he was scrapping with something. I wonder how the other critter made out?....cheers...Don.

Well, since the area has Merlins, Sharp Shinned Hawks, Cooper's and Peregrines, I would "guess" that one of them made a pass and failed. The only real sign of "damage" other then the ruffled look, and ripped tail, was that he couldn't care less about my presense. All may not be right in his head...:-)

Really nice shots, DBB! Way to get down to its level! pretty impressive! He definitely looks like a fighter. With that kind of opposition in the area, I would believe that it could take on whatever Mother Nature had on her mind!
