This is a picture of the icestorm of 1999 in New England. There were no clouds to work with but I tried to make some. Not very good.I used the burn tool. Can someone explain how I could do better.Any other suggestions would be helpful?
I use CS2.

Hi,

How about this ... I made the attached clouds in PS ... Start with a blank800 x 600 pixel canvas, set foreground colour to black and background to white as normal ... the go Filter/Render/clouds, you can use dodge & burn to enhance as desired. drag out your canvas to oversize to give some space, then got edit/ free tranform .... set to perspective and drag out the top of pic to give a more realistic effect.

Carrying on ... to apply your clouds to the original open both select the move tool and drag the clouds over the original ... select a large soft edged eraser at low opacity 35% work carefully and erase the clouds from bottom up until you acheive a result as below then flatten the image. I did this quickly so I don't expect it's as good as it can be.

BTW I don't know where the traffic signal comes into the scheme of things, IMO it would be better cloned out, it puzzled me for a while. LOL

Well !, 3 weeks or not you're getting there. I've been into PS for a couple of years and I'm still learning. I'd suggest you could go higher with the eraser tool along the roof line and into the tree as they're part of your original, just go with a smaller soft brush at low opacity, if you work slowly and carefully you wont spoil your new sky. It's better without the traffic signal and the car. ... Jack
