Default Impossible Task

This shot was sent into the newsroom of a city council member getting an award. We guess taken with a cell phone. I don't believe anything can be done with it, but thought it would be fun to see the kind of shots we get. That's full size.

As you are a master at this, this is probably as good as it is going to get. Nice try.

Had a go. Bit of a noisy image to begin with, and not much resolution, but fun to play with. Took out some of the lens distortion as well as fixing up exposure and such.

I'll send these to my editor and we'll see what they look like in B&W on his monitor calibrated to the printer. Thanks for the tries.

Hm,
what about this one? I tried to spice up things without going too high with the noise. Sharpness/detail is way better than in the original, histogram works, manual denoise, color correction. I removed some sharpening artefacts (mostly horizontal halos from deconvolution, which I used to correct camera shake) manually. More noise reduction is always possible, but you can easily destroy the image if overdone.

Original image included to make it easier to compare.

Regards,
Th.
